Sheldon man charged with violating sex offender registry

Orange City, Iowa – A Sheldon man was arrested for violating the Sioux County sex offender registry.

According to a criminal complaint filed by the county sheriff's office with the Sioux County Clerk of Court's office, Charles Eden, 44, of Sheldon, is accused of failing to notify the sheriff's office of changes in his status. He was arrested on Thursday, August 22.

In his statement, the deputy stated that Eden failed to notify the sheriff's office of a change in his employment that occurred in May.

Eden was charged with violating sex offender registration, second or subsequent offense, a Class D felony. If convicted, Eden faces up to five years in prison.

Eden is scheduled to appear at a preliminary hearing on the charge on September 3.

At last report, Eden was still being held in the Sioux County Jail in Orange City, despite having posted neither $3,000 cash bail nor bond.
