Philadelphia shooting leaves man dead and child injured on North 12th Street; 2 suspects sought

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — At least two suspects are being sought in connection with a shooting in North Philadelphia that left a man dead and a young boy injured.

It happened around 6:19 p.m. Friday in the 600 block of North 12th Street.

According to police, a 33-year-old man was walking on 12th Street near Fairmount Avenue when at least two gunmen opened fire.

The man ran to a nearby Hyundai vehicle for cover. A 9-year-old boy and another adult man were in the car, but that did not stop the suspects from shooting.

According to investigators, the 33-year-old suffered numerous gunshot wounds and died in hospital.

The child was shot in the leg. His condition is reported as stable at a nearby hospital.

The other man in the Hyundai was not injured.

“It's unclear whether he knew the people in the vehicle or not,” Philadelphia Police Inspector DF Pace said of the victim.

The video from Chopper 6 shows police targeting a gray Hyundai riddled with bullets.

According to police, the suspects were last seen fleeing in a black Jeep.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 215-686-TIPS.

According to police, a well-known rapper named “YBC Dul” was killed in another shooting in the city on Friday. He was a member of the gang Young Bag Chasers (YBC).

In this case too, no arrests were made.
