Formula E releases statement on presentation plans after BBC dismissal in Jena

Formula E has released a statement about presenter Jermaine Jenas after the BBC sacked him for sending messages to two colleagues.

The former professional footballer was the presenter of Formula E coverage on TNT Sport last season. He replaced long-standing presenter Vernon Kay in the championship's 10th season and also carried out work for the BBC and other radio stations.

But Jenas was sacked by the BBC earlier this week after being accused of sending “inappropriate messages” to two colleagues at the BBC. The One Showwhich raises questions about his future in Formula E.

In a statement, a Formula E spokesperson said: “Jermaine Jenas was part of the Formula E presentation team for season 10, which ended in July this year.

“Following the process of previous seasons, we will announce the presenter lineup for Season 11 in due course.

“This decision is carefully considered and takes into account the high standards we expect from Formula E.”

Jenas has since said The sun He sent “inappropriate messages” to two colleagues on The One Showbut he “did nothing illegal” and said they were “two consenting adults.”

“I am so ashamed,” he added. “I have let everyone down – my colleagues, my friends and, most of all, my family.”

The BBC had already become aware of the issue a few weeks ago. On Thursday, the corporation announced its resignation.

A BBC spokesman said: “We can confirm that Jermaine Jenas is no longer part of our presenting line-up.”

Jenas said he was fired during a video call on Monday while on a family holiday, five days after the BBC told him of the allegations against him.
