BTS Suga apologizes after police questioning about alcohol-diving incident

New Delhi: Suga, whose real name is Min Yoon-gi, is a member of the world-famous K-pop group BTS. On Friday, August 23, he appeared for the first time at the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul to answer questions about his driving under the influence (DUI) incident. The rapper was scheduled to be questioned about his public service obligations at around 7:45 p.m. KST, and the investigation was expected to conclude at around 10:54 p.m. KST.

At the police station, Suga appeared in an all-black suit and with a crew cut, which underlined the seriousness of the situation. He calmly addressed the situation and sincerely apologized to his fans and the public, bowed to the journalists and addressed the matter.

“I am truly sorry. I would like to apologize to the people who were hurt and disappointed by my wrongful actions. I think about it deeply and regret it deeply. I will make sure that such a situation does not happen again,” Suga said, according to Dispatch.

He added: “I want to apologize to the many people who have given me love. I am sorry again.”

Still, Suga remained tight-lipped about the specific questions he was asked during the interview. In addition, he did not address calls to leave the organization, nor did he comment on whether he was aware of legislation that prohibits anyone from riding an electric scooter while under the influence of alcohol.

What was the incident?

Suga was charged in connection with a drunk driving incident involving an electric scooter that occurred on August 6, 2024. The Yongsan Police Station officially charged Suga with violating the traffic regulations when they caught him driving an electric scooter while under the influence of alcohol. As a result, he was fined and his driver's license was confiscated.
