J&K Police warn miscreants trying to create unrest at interfaith marriages

Srinagar, August 24 (SocialNews.XYZ) Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday issued a warning to miscreants who tried to create trouble through an interfaith marriage.

Police said they came to know of an interfaith matter after the girl's father filed a missing person report in Baramulla district.

“On August 16 this year, a missing person report was lodged at Kreeri police station in Baramulla district for the daughter of one Ghulam Mohi-ud-din Sheikh (further details unknown), who was missing since the morning of August 16. On August 23, it was learnt that the said girl converted on August 19 and married a man from Navi Mumbai (further details unknown),” a police statement said.

“The Kreeri police station of Baramulla district police has taken cognizance of the matter and registered a case under relevant sections of the BNS. The Cyber ​​Patrol Unit of Baramulla district police has noticed that many miscreants and anti-social elements are creating/sharing posts trying to take advantage of this incident to create unrest,” the statement said.

“Sharing misleading/inflammatory content is a violation of various laws and will result in strict legal action including initiation of criminal proceedings. All are advised not to share any misleading/inflammatory content about this incident. If any such content has been shared/reposted, it is advised to delete it. Jammu and Kashmir Police is committed to ensuring that our digital space remains safe and respectful for all,” the police statement added.

There have been incidents in Jammu and Kashmir where miscreants and anti-social elements have exploited posts relating to the private lives of individuals to create unrest in this law and order sensitive Union Territory.

The police carefully protect and monitor the digital space to ensure that no one creates a situation that endangers the peace as well as the privacy and individual rights of other citizens.
