How did Bray Wyatt die? What you should know about the tragic death of the former WWE Champion

The name Bray Wyatt will always be remembered as one of the most creative minds in the history of professional wrestling. Tragically, Bray Wyatt passed away on August 24, 2023 at the age of 36.

The heartbreaking news of Bray Wyatt's death was first delivered by his father, Mike Rotonda, and later confirmed by WWE Chief Creative Officer Triple H, who informed the WWE Universe of this difficult loss.

Today, August 24, 2024, marks the one-year anniversary of Bray Wyatt's untimely death. WWE fans are still wondering how the former WWE Champion's life ended so early at just 37 years old.

Following Bray Wyatt's death, a report from Fightful on behalf of the family shed light on the cause of death. “I was privileged to announce that Windham Rotunda (Bray Wyatt) developed heart problems earlier this year, which were exacerbated by COVID-19. There was significant progress in his recovery and return, but unfortunately he suffered a heart attack today and passed away.”

Before his death, former WWE Champion Bray Wyatt made a highly anticipated return to WWE at Extreme Rules 2022. He then participated in a storyline with Uncle Howdy and faced LA Knight at SummerSlam 2023. After this match, Wyatt's appearances on WWE programs became less frequent due to health issues and in August, the world was shocked by the tragic news of his death.

Currently, Bray Wyatt's brother Bo Dallas is continuing the storyline of Uncle Howdy and has assembled a faction called the Wyatt Six. Uncle Howdy will make his in-ring debut next week on Monday Night Raw, facing Master Chad Gable.

A few days ago, Bray Wyatt's father, Mike Rotunda, appeared on Wrasslin Talk with Mayor McCall and revealed how WWE supports Bray Wyatt's family. Mike shared that WWE has signed Bray Wyatt to a Legends contract and the company will also be selling Bray Wyatt merchandise through its authorized store. Proceeds from these sales will go to Wyatt's family.

Many fans may be wondering what the WWE Legends contract is, which is usually offered to former WWE Superstars to keep them connected to the company. This contract often includes appearances in WWE commercials, promotional tours, appearances in WWE games, merchandise sales, surprise appearances, meet-and-greets with fans, and more.

Although Bray Wyatt's career in WWE was relatively short, he left a lasting impression with his numerous gimmicks, including Husky Harris, The Eater of Worlds, The Fiend, and the Broken Bray Wyatt. His contributions have made him one of the greatest in the history of professional wrestling. Wyatt's legacy lives on in his brother Bo Dallas, who carries on his creative vision and adds new dimensions to his story.
