Sex offender arrested in San Rafael, accused of 'terrorizing' three women

SAN RAFAEL, CALIFORNIA – A paroled sex offender was arrested Wednesday in San Rafael after allegedly attacking at least three people, police said.

Willie Jessie Clinton-Jones, 44, of San Rafael, was taken into custody after allegedly assaulting, gesticulating rudely and stalking at least three women along Second Street, B Street and C Street in downtown San Rafael around 9 p.m.

He is accused of stalking and harassing a woman at a local grocery store. He also allegedly began harassing another victim and then stalking her for several blocks. Fortunately, the victim caught the attention of another person and Clinton-Jones fled the area, police said.

A third woman reported that Clinton-Jones followed her while pointing to his abdomen. He allegedly followed her to an apartment and then fled when her husband appeared.

“Upon review of the warrants, it was discovered that Clinton-Jones had been released from jail just 24 hours earlier after being arrested and charged with drug charges and probation violation,” San Rafael police said in a statement.

Clinton-Jones is known to San Rafael police for several arrests related to dangerous and indecent offenses, police said. Police said he was arrested from 2017 to 2024, including on child molestation charges, after staying on various high school campuses.

Clinton-Jones was booked into the Marin County Jail on suspicion of stalking and violating his probation. He is currently being held without bail due to a probation injunction.
