Man arrested for aiming fake assault rifle at drivers on I-395

THOMPSON, CT (WFSB) – A 24-year-old Putnam man was arrested after allegedly brandishing a firearm on Interstate 395 Friday night.

Angelo Raymond Martinez was taken into custody following a series of incidents involving aggressive driving and threatening behavior.

Troop D in Danielson received several 911 calls reporting a red sedan driving erratically and tailgating on I-395 southbound through Thompson and Putnam.

Witnesses also reported that the driver pointed a firearm at other drivers in a threatening manner.

Further reports indicated that Martinez, driving a red Dodge Avenger, was seen at a traffic light on Route 44 in Putnam, allegedly aiming what appeared to be a black assault rifle at nearby motorists.

Putnam and State Police officers found Martinez's vehicle on Powhatten Street. During their investigation, they discovered a black AR-style paintball gun in the car, which was entered into evidence.
