Bessemer man charged with attempted murder while out on bail for domestic violence

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Alabama (WBRC) – A Bessemer man was indicted by a grand jury on Aug. 16 and faces attempted murder charges.

Maurice Lavell White is charged with attempted murder and two other counts of domestic violence.

According to court documents, White is accused of breaking into a woman's home on December 18, 2022 and shooting her multiple times.

According to court records, White was out on bail when this happened. These incidents reportedly occurred on December 3, 2022.

That day, White allegedly hit the victim in the head with a pistol and stole her car. He faces charges of second-degree assault and theft.

White is now back in the Jefferson County Jail without bail. It is not yet known when he will make his first court appearance.
