Two people are killed in a wrong-way driving accident on the Henry Hudson Parkway, the driver flees on foot

NEW YORK — According to the New York Police Department, a driver traveling the wrong way on the Henry Hudson Parkway caused an accident that killed two people and then fled the scene early Saturday morning.

The north side of the parkway in Upper Manhattan remains closed from 154th Street to the George Washington Bridge as rescue crews work to clear the debris.

At least three cars were demolished in the accident shortly before 2:30 a.m. and the driver responsible is still missing, police said.

According to investigators, the driver of a white pickup truck was traveling south on the north side of the highway and collided head-on with a Dodge Challenger.

The two men in the Challenger, aged 40 and 38, died at the scene of the accident, police said.

The driver of the pickup truck fled on foot, but a 22-year-old passenger was arrested and taken to hospital in stable condition, police said.
