Repeat offender caught smuggling drugs through Fond du Lac County

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office continues to monitor and combat drug smuggling through the county.

On Friday, August 23, 2024, authorities released information about one of their most recent raids. On July 25 of this year, an officer noticed a driver driving unusually slowly on I-41.

Through a registration check, the officer learned that the registered owner of the vehicle no longer had a driver's license. A traffic stop was conducted and due to the officer's training and experience, the traffic stop became a drug investigation.

As a result, approximately 230 grams of methamphetamine and 30 grams of fentanyl were seized. Both the 39-year-old driver from Phillips, Wisconsin, and the 30-year-old passenger from Appleton were charged with possession of methamphetamine and fentanyl with intent to resell, with the addition of “repeat offender” because both had previous drug convictions. Both were on probation at the time for previous charges, which have since been revoked, and are now serving time in prison.
