Florida Highway Patrol officer and driver suffer serious injuries in accident in Miami-Dade

MIAMI DADE COUNTY, Florida. – A Florida Highway Patrol trooper and the driver of a Toyota Camry were injured in a crash in the Golden Glades area of ​​Miami-Dade County early Saturday morning.

According to Lt. Alex Camacho, a spokesman for FHP, the driver of the Toyota Camry “lost control” while traveling south on Interstate 95, skidded on the wet road and collided with a parked FHP Dodge Challenger.

Camacho reported that the FHP trooper was protecting construction workers in the express lanes of southbound I-95 in the area of ​​the Golden Glades Interchange.

“The express lanes were closed due to active construction and the trooper's vehicle was strategically positioned to ensure the safety of workers,” Camacho wrote in a statement.

Firefighters took the injured man to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center with serious injuries. Camacho said the investigation was ongoing Saturday afternoon.
