Man in go-kart driver dies in hit-and-run in Fresno County

FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) — The California Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal go-kart crash Saturday morning.

The Fresno County Sheriff's Office first responded to the area of ​​Mountain View Avenue near Peach Avenue shortly after 6:30 a.m.

CHP officials said an unidentified person was driving a Toyota Tacoma westbound on Mountain View Avenue and a man driving an unregistered go-kart was driving in the same direction in front of the Toyota.

As the Toyota approached the go-kart from behind, it hit the man.

Investigators said the driver of the Toyota stopped briefly and then drove away without helping the victim.

The officers were unable to alleviate the man's life-threatening injuries and declared him dead at the scene of the accident.

It is not known whether alcohol and/or drugs played a role in this accident.

Initial evidence at the crime scene suggests that the suspect vehicle could be a white Toyota Tacoma (model year 2012-2015) with front-end damage.
