‘Amazing’ 19-year-old law student killed in tragic six-story fall from Ibiza hotel balcony

A “kind” and “hardworking” law student was paid his last respects after he died after falling from a hotel balcony in Ibiza. Emma Ramsay was holidaying with friends in the Spanish island's party capital, San Antoino.

The 19-year-old fell from the sixth floor of the Vibra District Hotel at around 3am on Tuesday (20 August). Tragically, she was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics, reports the Daily Record.

Friends were among those paying tribute to the teenager. Paris Mcgoldrick wrote: “I don't even know where to begin to describe how perfect our Emma was.”

“I loved everything about you and always will. Heaven just got the most beautiful angel they will ever get and I am forever grateful to call you my girlfriend. I will forever cherish the moments we spent together Em. I love you forever my girl, you will never be forgotten.”

Amy Craig said: “The most incredible girl, sending all my love.” Fallon Jamieson added: “Sending all my love to her family and friends. Such a beautiful girl.”

Emma, ​​from Hamilton in Lanarkshire, was studying law at Strathclyde University. The young Scottish woman shared pictures and videos on social media from her party with friends in the hours before the horror incident.

Tiktok clips showed her dancing for the camera before a night out at club Hi Ibiza. In other shots and images, she parties with friends in an elevator before heading out on the town, posing on a balcony at Cafe Del Mar opposite Cafe Mambo.

Lorna Lawson, headteacher of St John Ogilvie High School, said: “We are shocked and saddened by the heartbreaking news of the sudden death of our former Head Girl, Emma Ramsay. Emma was an incredibly kind, hardworking, bright and talented student who made a huge contribution to our school community.”

“Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends during this incredibly difficult time. Emma will be missed and she will forever hold a special place in our school.”

Colette Watson, headteacher of St Mark's Primary in Hamilton, added: “Emma was a lovely girl, caring and considerate, and many of our staff have really fond memories of her time with us. This is terribly sad news and our thoughts, prayers and deepest sympathies go out to Emma's family and friends.”

Emma's parents are said to have flown to the island following the tragedy. The Foreign Office has confirmed that it is supporting Emma's family.

A spokesman said: “We are supporting the family of a British woman who died in Spain and are in contact with local authorities.” A spokesman for Spain's Guardia Civil added: “I can confirm that a 19-year-old British tourist has died after a fall in a hotel in San Antonio, Ibiza.”
