Police: Stolen weapon found during traffic check, driver arrested

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – Memphis police have arrested and charged a man after a stolen gun was found in his car during a traffic stop.

On August 23, officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that had a difficult-to-read temporary license plate.

During the traffic stop, officers discovered that the driver, Joshua King, 28, was driving the vehicle despite having a suspended license.

The affidavit states that officers also discovered a stolen handgun hidden in the vehicle. Upon further investigation, it emerged that King had previously been convicted of a serious crime.

King was taken into police custody and is now charged with theft of property, driving without a license and violating registration regulations.
