Neighbours star Majella Davis has responded to the tragic story of Krista Sinclair, in which her character lost a baby.

In scenes that aired earlier this week, Chelsea Murphy is seen trapping Krista in a sauna out of spite as she was about to lead a work presentation. The incident had disastrous consequences, as it was revealed yesterday (March 27) that Krista had lost her baby.

Davis, who made her debut on the soap last year, spoke about the emotional storyline and revealed that she prepared thoroughly to get herself in the right frame of mind for the traumatic scenes.

“The producers informed me very early on about Krista's stillbirth, so luckily I had a lot of time to process that and prepare for this story,” she revealed. “I started by doing a lot of research and listening to a lot of different experiences from mothers who have lost a child during pregnancy.”

“On the day of filming itself, I had a lot of support from everyone on set, so I felt really safe to step in and share Krista's deep sadness. Plus, we all ate a lot of chocolate that day!”

Future scenes will see Krista leaning on Paul Robinson in the wake of these developments. Davis revealed that the two will share some tender scenes together as Krista begins to mourn her loss.

“I think it's really nice to have Paul by Krista's side during this time,” she said. “She just recently lost her father and the relationship she has with Paul kind of mirrors the relationship she had with him. It was just a perfect fit that he was there for her.”

“I was very lucky to work so closely with Stefan [Dennis]. I love playing with the power dynamics when we're in conflict, but I have to say the cute stuff is really heartwarming and funny too. Hopefully we can just keep playing between the two extremes.”

Neighbors releases new episodes Monday to Thursday for free on Amazon Freevee in the UK and US. In Australia, the show airs Monday to Thursday at 4pm on Channel 10, with a repeat at 6.30pm on 10 Peach.
