The shooting occurred around 4:15 p.m. in a parking lot in the 10300 block of South Cottage Grove near Gately Park Stadium, located at 810 E. 103rd St. in Pullman near Roseland, Chicago police said.

Witnesses told ABC7 that the shooting occurred during a back-to-school event. A basketball game was taking place during the event, and after it ended, crowds of teenagers gathered in the parking lot.

A 15-year-old boy was standing in the crowd in the parking lot when a white vehicle approached him and someone in the vehicle began shooting at him, police said.

A witness who assisted at the scene told ABC7 the teenager was arguing with a person in a white SUV before shots were fired and the SUV drove away.

The teenage victim was shot in the stomach, police said. He was taken to Comer Children's Hospital, where he was initially listed in serious condition.
