LSU vs. USC odds: Early scoring for Tigers, Trojans released

College football is officially here and some teams will start their season on Saturday in Week 0. The majority of teams will start their season next week, including LSU And USC.

The No. 13 Tigers will face the No. 23 Trojans in a neutral-site game in Las Vegas on Sunday, Sept. 1. LSU is a 4.5-point favorite according to FanDuel, and the over/under for the game is 63.5. More information on the game can be found below.

LSU is coming off a 10-3 season but is losing the heart of its offense to the 2023 Heisman Trophy winner Jayden DanielsThe Tigers have his successor in Garrett Nussmeierbut with every change there are always question marks.

LSU also loses its two best receivers from last year, making the situation even more complicated in 2024. Kyren Lacy is back after scoring 558 yards and seven touchdowns a year ago, and the Tigers have also brought in former Liberty receiver CJ Daniels via the transfer portal.

The Tigers had one of the worst defensive attacks in college football last season, ranking 108th nationally in total yards allowed per game. That's something USC will likely want to take advantage of, given the Trojans' offensive history.

USC starts new regime under Lincoln Riley

USC was also one of the worst defensive units in college football in its first two seasons under Lincoln RileyThe Trojans actually trailed the Tigers in total defense last season, finishing 119th.

They will also have a new quarterback with Müller Moos Taking over the No. 1 selection Caleb Williams. Moss has thrown for 914 yards and nine touchdowns in his three-year career in Los Angeles. He was previously a four-star recruit in the 2021 cycle according to On3 industry rankinga weighted average using all four major recruiting media companies.

The Trojans also lose their two best receivers, but return Duke Robinsonwho scored 351 yards and two touchdowns as a freshman last season. USC also brings in former UCLA transfer Kyle Ford into the treasure trove of weapons available to Moss.

The opening game will be a real challenge for the Trojans, but they should be able to keep the game close.
