Arrest for firearm possession at Winona Peach Festival on Saturday, August 24 – TPR Hamilton

Hamilton police and paramedics arrived at Winona Park late that evening.

In a statement sent to X, Hamilton Police say an individual was arrested in possession of a firearm at the Winona Peach Festival tonight.

“Hamilton police arrested a person in possession of a firearm at the Winona Peach Festival #Ham. The incident passed without incident and fortunately no one was injured.”

Hamilton paramedics say one person was treated after pepper spray was released in the park, but did not require hospitalization.

Hamilton Police are not releasing any further information about the incident at this time.

The Hamilton Police Media Relations Unit has been providing updates.

Hamilton police have not disclosed when they responded or which police department is conducting the investigation.

An online video circulating on social media platforms shows Hamilton police arresting a person in the central area of ​​the park.

TPR has spoken to both Hamilton Police and Hamilton Paramedics and can confirm the following:

Hamilton Paramedics:

David Thompson, chief of Hamilton's paramedical department, said paramedics treated one person after the pepper spray was discharged. They were treated at the scene and no one was taken to hospital.

Hamilton Police:

A Hamilton Police supervisor referred to the statement from the HPS media relations department and said a statement would be issued regarding X.
