A woman was shot and arrested in a fight in the city centre on Friday evening

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – A 26-year-old woman was hospitalized and jailed following a downtown brawl after she was struck in the leg by a man's ricochet bullet during the fight.

At approximately 1:20 a.m. Saturday morning, officers were called to the 700 block of N. Chapparal St. after receiving reports that multiple shots had been fired and a person was lying in the street.

When the police arrived at the scene, a 26-year-old man was lying on the street with serious head injuries. However, these were not from gunshot wounds.

Witnesses tried to stop Martinez, but he fired several shots from his gun, accidentally hitting Maria Alonzo in the leg.

The police managed to locate and arrest Jakob Martinez and Serena Alonzo.

Maria Alonzo, 26, was arrested after being treated and released from the hospital.

Police said the weapon used was confiscated.

All three were charged with grievous bodily harm.

Several other people were involved in this incident. Some have been identified, others have not.
