Hyderabad police ask CBI to issue Red Corner Notice against accused in US

Hyderabad: Hyderabad Police has asked the Director of CBI to issue a ‘Red Corner’ notice for T. Prabhakar Rao, former chief of the Special Intelligence Bureau, and Shravan Kumar Rao, managing director of I-News, who are currently in the US.

City police commissioner Kothakota Sreenivasa Reddy told the media that they had contacted the US embassy and immigration authorities, stressing that the accused were wanted in a serious case and were misusing their visas.

He expressed hope for a quick resolution of the case and said that the case would continue once the main suspects were arrested.

“The case will proceed once the main suspects are arrested as they are currently evading arrest. We have also informed the US Consul General about their misuse of visas from another country. We remain optimistic about progress in the coming days,” Sreenivasa Reddy said.

He mentioned that the application for the Red Corner Notices is in process and “we are trying to expedite it.”

He added that the case was still ongoing and the other detained suspects were having difficulty obtaining bail due to the seriousness of the crime, which involved the violation of people's privacy.

When asked whether it would be possible to issue notices to policymakers as part of the investigation, Sreenivasa Reddy replied: “The way the case is developing… definitely.”
