Local animal rescue organization reports increase in abuse cases

Local authorities are currently investigating several cases of animal cruelty, including two serious new cases this week.

Within two weeks, two bulldogs were found in cages that had died after being exposed to the intense heat.

Days later, an abused puppy was found in Boulder City.

According to authorities, another litter of puppies was abandoned in a desert.

According to the Vegas Recuse Project, cases of animal cruelty are on the rise.

The Animal Foundation calls on people who are not suitable for keeping a pet to give it up.

“We have a pet hotline that can help,” said Hilarie Gray, CEO of the Animal Foundation. “We can also help you rehome your pet if you feel like you have no other choice – because sometimes people don't have any other choice.”

Grey also says, “I can't imagine the desperation or the horrible person that would do something like that to a shelter. There are a lot of them in Las Vegas because of the cost of housing, the availability of veterinary care, or because someone is between jobs.”

The Vegas Rescue Project says the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has received a video that may help identify the person responsible for Reba's death.

There is also no suspect in the case of the recent bulldog death.
