The police have arrested four people, the main accused is on the run (representative report).

Mumbai:

Four people were arrested on Sunday for the alleged gang rape of a 15-year-old girl in Dharashiv, Maharashtra. The main accused in the case is still at large, an official said.

According to the official, the incident took place on Saturday afternoon when the teenager went to the grocery store. Chief Minister Vijay Ghadge (25), who knows the girl, invited her to his home.

Four other men were present at Ghadge's house. Quoting the FIR, the officer said Ghadge raped the teenager first, after which two others sexually assaulted her.

When the teenager returned home, she informed her family about the gang rape. They then reported it to the police.

Police have arrested four persons, all farmers from the same area, while Ghadge is on the run. A case has been registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the official added.
