Uchenna Nwosu and Artie Burns leave Seahawks' preseason victory due to injury

The Seahawks finished the preseason with a 37-33 win over the Cleveland Browns, but are now awaiting the injury status of several key defensive players.

Outside linebacker Uchenna Nwosu was forced out of the game in the first quarter – the regulars only played one series – after he suffered a knee injury following a chop block that resulted in a 15-yard penalty. Nwosu was cared for on the field by athletic trainers and was then able to slowly jog off the field under his own power.

“Not sure yet,” Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald said when asked about Nwosu. “We'll get it checked out tomorrow. We'll probably know more in the next few days.”

Macdonald said the same goes for cornerback Artie Burns, who left the game in the first quarter with a foot injury.

The Seahawks have Sunday off and return to practice on Monday, so an update from Macdonald is unlikely until then.

Macdonald also said that outside linebacker Dre'Mont Jones, who was out with a hamstring injury, could return to practice soon.

“It's looking positive,” Macdonald said. “We're optimistic about Dre'Mont. We'll see this week how many reps he gets and how we increase it.”
