Seahawks injury updates: 2 defenders out in season finale against Browns

The only thing you can expect from an NFL warm-up game is that your team comes out of the game without any major injuries. The Seattle Seahawks may have beaten the Cleveland Browns 37-33 last night, but they too had to miss several important defenders during the game due to injuries…

Starting edge Uchenna Nwosu fared the worst, missing half of last season with a chest injury that required surgery. On the opening drive, Nwosu went for a hard hit on Jameis Winston in the pocket, but Browns guard Wyatt Tell\er dived to his knees to stop him. The low hit earned him a 15-yard penalty, but it was enough to knock Nwosu out of the game. After the game was over, head coach Mike Macdonald told the media that he was still unsure of Nwosu's status and that he would be evaluated today.

If Nwosu is out for an extended period, the next man in the rotation is second-year edge rusher Derick Hall, who was just promoted after Darrell Taylor was traded to the Chicago Bears. Hall has been pretty good this month, considering that.

Cornerback Artie Burns also suffered a foot injury and had to be carried off the field after being examined on the sidelines. He was not wearing cleats on his left foot.

Burns was slated to be the first backup behind Devon Witherspoon. Rookie DJ James would be the next man up, assuming he makes the initial 53-man roster, but that's no guarantee given his struggles during the preseason.
