On Friday, a doctor of Indian origin was shot dead in Tuscaloosa, USA. The victim, identified as Dr. Ramesh Babu Peramsetty, died at the scene. He was a renowned doctor who headed several hospitals in America.

Dr. Ramesh was a native of Tirupati district of Andhra Pradesh and was one of the founders and medical director of a group of local doctors known as the Crimson Network. He was known for his contributions in the field of health care and also practiced medicine in Tuscaloosa.

“As many already know, we have been informed of the passing of Dr. Ramesh Peramsetty. The Peramsetty family asks that we grant them privacy in their grief. They have received much love and trust. We will continue to honor him as he would have expected us to. Thank you for your understanding,” the Crimson Care Network team said in a Facebook post.

The Crimson Care Network said its team is “ready to provide further explanations in the coming days.”

Who was Dr. Ramesh Babu Peramsetty?

According to his Wedmd page, Dr. Peramsetty graduated from the Medical College of Wisconsin, Sri Venkateswara Medical College in 1986. He had 38 years of professional experience.

He worked in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and four other locations and specialized in emergency medicine and family medicine, they say. He was also affiliated with the Diploma in Child Health (DCH) Regional Medical Center.

According to local reports, a street in Tuscaloosa was named after him due to his significant contributions to the medical profession. He also reportedly did extensive work during the Covid-19 pandemic and received awards for it. He leaves behind his wife, two sons and two daughters, all of whom live in the United States, it is reported.

He reportedly donated Rs 1.4 million to Menakuru High School in Andhra Pradesh, where he studied, and also for the construction of a Sai temple in his village.
