After an “active investigation lasting several hours,” 24-year-old Seth McGraw was arrested. The incident was captured on video, according to a criminal complaint. McGraw was in possession of a stolen weapon as well as methamphetamine, marijuana and psilocybin mushrooms, the complaint states.

McGraw was charged with willful assault causing serious bodily harm, trafficking in stolen weapons, prohibition of carrying weapons, use of a weapon in the commission of a crime, and several drug offenses.

Kirkwood Community College issued a public safety bulletin shortly after the shooting, saying the shooting occurred near Scooter's Coffee, close to the school's main campus. Despite its proximity to campus, Kirkwood officials did not believe the shooting posed an active threat to the main campus, the bulletin said.

McGraw is being held in the Linn County Jail.
