Leading Indian doctor Ramesh Peramsetty shot dead in the USA

Dr. Ramesh Peramsetty, originally from Tirupati district in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, was shot dead in the city of Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

On Friday, a doctor of Indian origin was shot dead in the city of Tuscaloosa in Alabama. The victim, identified as Dr. Ramesh Babu Peramsetty from Tirupati district in Andhra Pradesh, died at the scene. He was a renowned doctor with 38 years of professional experience and co-founder of a group of local medical practitioners operating as the Crimson Network.

Doctor of Indian descent shot dead in the USA

Peramsetty's death was confirmed by the Crimson Care Network team in a statement posted on Facebook, which read: “As many already know, we have been informed of the passing of Dr. Ramesh Peramsetty. The Peramsetty family asks that we grant them privacy in their grief. They have received an abundance of love and trust. We will continue to honor him as he would have wanted us to. Thank you for your understanding.”

In a separate post, Crimson Care Network wrote: “Please continue to think of Peramsetty and the Crimson Care Network family and pray for us as we navigate this difficult time. Our team is prepared to make further statements in the coming days. We will continue to honor his legacy. Our clinics will remain open during the transition.” Peramsetty leaves behind his wife, two sons and two daughters, all of whom live in the United States.

Who was Dr. Ramesh Babu Peramsetty?

Peramsetty graduated from the Medical College of Wisconsin and Sri Venkateswara Medical College in 1986, according to his Web MD page. He had specializations in emergency medicine and family medicine and was also affiliated with the Diploma in Child Health (DCH) Regional Medical Center. In addition to Tuscaloosa, he worked at four other locations in several hospitals.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, Peramsetty provided comprehensive medical assistance to those affected. According to local reports, he was recognized for his great contribution and received several awards. The late doctor was also involved in social work and donated nearly $17,000 to Menakuru High School in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.
