Janesville police investigate shooting

Janesville Police are investigating after receiving a report of shots fired at the City of Janesville Masonic Center early Sunday.

At 2:47 a.m. Sunday, Janesville police officers arrived at the intersection of East Milwaukee Street and North Sumac Drive and eventually discovered several windows with bullet holes at the Masonic Center at 2322 W. Milwaukee St. Officers also found bullets, Janesville Police Sergeant Rogelio Carrasco said.

The person who made the report told police they heard “multiple” gunshots 15 minutes before calling authorities, he said. The reporting person also told Janesville police they saw a man at the aforementioned intersection who was about 6 feet tall and of slim build. The man was reportedly wearing a dark long-sleeved top and dark pants, Carrasco said.

No one was injured in the incident, he said.

Carrasco said anyone with information about the incident should call Janesville police at 608-755-3100, the Rock County Communications Center at 608-755-3100 or Janesville Area Crime Stoppers at 608-756-3636. Callers can remain anonymous, he said.
