High school game in California ended early due to fight

A thrilling high school football game on Friday night was ended early after a brawl broke out between the two teams, resulting in altercations and an athlete having his helmet ripped off his head.

In the fourth quarter of the game against two teams in the Fresno, California area, the fight broke out during a Garza High School punt against Central High School, according to the Sacramento Bee. Video of the chaotic scene shows several punches and what appears to be a Garza High School player ripping the helmet off a Central High School player's head and swinging it back toward him once before letting go.

The owner of the social media platform X Page, who also runs this Central Valley High School sports website, posted a second angle on the fight:

The game was tied with 10 minutes left and Central leading 40-0. Sophomore quarterback Jelani Dippel completed his varsity debut by completing 20 of 26 passes for 293 yards and two touchdowns, according to the Sac Bee. Junior running back Brandon Smith added 187 yards and three touchdowns on just three carries.
