Mesa man confesses to fatal shooting but claims it was an accident, police say

A 39-year-old man was arrested after Table Mountain According to police, he murdered another man early on Saturday morning, August 24.

First police The department received a call around 4:45 a.m. from someone who said a man appeared to be having a seizure near Main Street and Mesa Drive.

“Firefighters and police quickly arrived at the scene to provide medical assistance. When firefighters began examining the man, they found that it appeared to be a gunshot wound. Despite immediate life-saving measures, the man lost consciousness and was pronounced dead at the scene,” police said.

The victim was not identified.

The suspect, Antonio Marquez-Mora, was found in a nearby parking lot. He was arrested and, according to police, admitted to the shooting but claimed it was an accident.

He was taken to prison and is charged with premeditated murder.
