Cedar Rapids police investigate overnight shooting; one person injured

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – Cedar Rapids Police are currently investigating a shooting that occurred Saturday night around 11:13 p.m. in the 800 block of 3rd Ave SW.

Officers responded to several calls about gunfire between the occupants of two vehicles. When they arrived, they found evidence of the shooting and a resident of a nearby home who had sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the foot. The person was not believed to be involved in the shooting.

Officers also found two vehicles and three homes that had been struck by the gunfire. It was also determined that a gas line had been hit. The Cedar Rapids Fire Department was called to the scene to shut off the gas line.
