19-year-old arrested for drunk driving after three-vehicle pileup in College Station

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – College Station police arrested a 19-year-old on Saturday on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and causing a three-vehicle crash on Harvey Mitchell Parkway, police records show.

William Bentley Joutte of College Station was arrested at the scene of the accident.

A cell phone video showing Joutte taking a roadside breathalyzer test near Jones Crossing shows the teenager trying to maintain his balance while standing on one leg.

The accident occurred around 6 p.m., and at least one witness told police it appeared Joutte was looking at his cellphone when he struck another pickup truck, which was then pushed into the vehicle in front of him.

According to his police report, Joutte admitted to drinking alcohol at a friend's house before the crash. He told police the pickup truck in front of him “braked” him, causing the crash, but the victims he hit said on social media that that didn't happen. They said they were parked at a stoplight when they were hit from behind.

Joutte was taken into custody and charged with DUI. His bail is set at $2,000.
