Nova survivor’s heartbreaking farewell letter revealed by family – Conservative Post

In a devastating turn of events, the family of a young Israeli who miraculously survived the horrific Nova massacre on October 7 has released his suicide note.

After enduring unspeakable horrors, including the gruesome sight of a girl being brutally abused, the burden of it all became too much for him.

This young man, who had experienced a nightmare, finally came to the conclusion that he could no longer carry on with his life. The trauma of what he had experienced and his helplessness in saving the girl drove him to this heartbreaking decision.

His family, now mourning an unimaginable loss, has translated his final letter from Hebrew. By sharing his final words, they hope to raise awareness of the deep scars left by such atrocities. May he rest in peace.

“Hey you, please forgive me! It all started on Thursday, we were dancing and having fun, and Friday was filled with so much fun – everywhere was so fun, we met friends we hadn't seen for years – we all got together to dance and celebrate life. On Saturday morning the sun came up, it was so beautiful as it shone on everyone.

“We are dancing and happy, hugging each other, and some of my friends are leaving. Suddenly rockets are flying over us. I know this, this is my life – I come from the south. But then there are paragliders – I hope nothing happens to them… Then the gunfire starts – what's going on? We see the truck coming, paratroopers in foreign uniforms – they are killing everyone. They just killed Shay, they killed Adi. They are kidnapping the girl who is sitting there hugging her murdered boyfriend.

“Suddenly you run to the bushes where I am sitting and hiding, without making a sound. You are in the bush next to me, so close that the screams are bubbling out from inside you. A terrorist is right above the bush where I am hiding, and I am praying so hard that he doesn't see me, I am praying so fervently, something I have never done my whole life… God can hear my prayer. But you don't stop screaming loudly, because every second someone is being shot and murdered.

“They saw you and they drag you out of the bushes. There are four of them and you are alone. You scream for help. One of them hits you to silence you and you try to fight back while looking in my direction so that I can save you. But if I go out, we will both be murdered. I want to live! I sit there in silence, they start to undress you! I cry, I feel like I have to scream, but a hand silences me! Maybe it is the hand of God, or I don't know who…

“They turn you on your stomach and start raping you, one by one. They turn you over again and shout at you in English. They want you to see for yourself how they defeated you. You try to crawl towards me and I pray that something happens, that someone kills them so you can get out alive, but as you crawl towards me and they are on top of you, the shot comes. They murdered you, but before they murdered your body, they murdered your soul.

“I sat there in the bushes for hours and didn't come out. I saw a bottle of water next to you and I was so incredibly thirsty, but I couldn't bear the thought that I should have saved you, so how can I be so disrespectful and drink your water?”

“I have reached rock bottom, I can't live anymore. Your gaze follows me every day – in the shower, in my sleep, in my room. I couldn't work anymore, I wasn't able to. I was at your house. I didn't tell your parents what you went through, but they were told that your body was abused, I was a witness. I ask for your forgiveness. I am coming to you, to the next big world, I promise to save you and protect you there. Please forgive me!

“And don't worry, I left a note for my family telling them how much I love them and thanking them for the life they gave me. My sister is having a baby, I was thinking about staying here to meet my nephew, but I don't think he should meet the uncle who couldn't save you. It's okay, I'll watch over him from upstairs.”

The original letter was shared anonymously by the young man's sister on an Israeli social media group and was written in Hebrew. She explained that the family wishes to protect their privacy and has therefore decided not to reveal their identity. May his memory be a blessing.
