BTS' Suga apologizes again for drunk driving incident

BTS's Suga has released another apology following his drunk driving incident.

The rapper visited the BTS Weverse page to write a letter to the BTS ARMY.

According to a translation by Soompi, Suga first introduced himself before apologizing again, “ashamed.”

“I deeply apologize to my fans and everyone who loves me for the disappointment and pain my misconduct has caused,” he said.

“I made a big mistake by forgetting my responsibility to repay you with actions worthy of the love I have received,” he added.

The K-pop star recalled the night of August 6 when the accident occurred, admitting that he made a “mistake” while riding an electric scooter on the sidewalk after drinking.

He also apologized for causing a lot of “confusion” after his first apology on August 7. “I should have thought more deeply and carefully, but I didn't,” Suga said.

The BTS member took responsibility for what happened. “It's all my fault. Because of my negligence, everyone who cares about me is going through a difficult time,” Suga said, adding that he will “reflect” and strive not to commit such transgressions again.

Suga apologized not only to his fans but also to the other BTS members for “disappointing” them.

At the end of his apology letter, Suga said that he would “accept” not only the disciplinary action decided by the authorities, but also the criticism.

“Finally, I once again bow my head and sincerely apologize for causing controversy and disappointing many people,” he concluded.

On August 7, Suga released an apology statement after reports surfaced of his drunk driving charges. He said that he went out to dinner and had a drink, then rode home on an electric scooter and fell while parking the scooter in front of his house.

Nearby police officers approached him, conducted a breathalyzer test, fined him and revoked his driving license.

Suga said no people were affected or buildings damaged, but he took responsibility for the incident and “lowered my head and apologized without excuses.”

“I would like to apologize to everyone who was harmed by my actions for my negligence and misconduct and will be careful in my actions to ensure that this does not happen again,” he said.

After his first apology, Suga was faced with police investigations. He also assured that he would cooperate with the police investigation.

Suga is one of the BTS members who are currently serving their military service. So far, only Jin has been discharged after completing his service.

Suga, also known as Agust D, has released two mixtapes, a self-titled one in 2016 and “D-2,” which was released in 2020, as well as his studio album “D-Day,” which was released in 2023.

BTS is expected to reunite as a group in 2025.
