New Delhi: A 25-year-old fashion retail student has landed herself in trouble after desperately trying to conceal her visit to Thailand from her Mumbai institute. SS Ghatol allegedly mutilated her passport to conceal her trip.

Intercepted at Mumbai Airport

She was intercepted at Mumbai airport on Thursday as she tried to board a flight to Singapore. The first-year student was travelling on a tourist visa to pursue an internship sponsored by her institute.

According to a report in the Times of India, Ghatol was travelling in Thailand from February 11 to 14 and had requested an exemption from the examination on the grounds that she was unwell.

Booked under the Passport Act

She feared getting caught after the institute asked her to present her passport for the internship in Singapore.

She was arrested for fraud and violation of the passport law.
