Photo of Darshan smoking and enjoying coffee in jail goes viral. Alcohol is in high demand, say sources

Photos of Kannada superstar Darshan smoking cigarettes and enjoying coffee in Bengaluru Central Jail have gone viral. The photos, first published by IANS, have become a talking point on social media. Now, sources revealed that he has been provided his choicest non-vegetarian food, alcohol, sleeping arrangements and freedom to meet his friends. The actor is accused in a kidnapping and murder case and is lodged in the Central Jail here. A purported recording of Darshan's video call also surfaced on Monday.
The 25-second recording shows Darshan's co-worker on a video call and talking to another person wearing headphones. Darshan in his barracks appears on the screen and also speaks to the person on the other end. After the video went viral, the authorities took note of it and stated that it would be sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) to determine whether it was real or fabricated.
Sources have revealed that the prison has been converted into a sort of 'resort' for Darshan. He is allowed to eat non-vegetarian food whenever he wants. The non-vegetarian food, especially chicken and mutton biryani, is supplied to Darshan and his gang from a famous hotel in the southern part of Bengaluru, the sources said. Darshan loves to eat non-vegetarian food, especially biryani. Along with biryani, he is also given alcohol of his choice. According to sources, the actor is allowed to party with notorious rowdies in prison and has a lot of fun.
According to sources, Darshan has been partying with hoodlums Wilson Garden Naga, Backery Raghu and his close associates Nagaraj and Raghu. Sources also revealed that the jailed hoodlums accused of murder, Wilson Garden Naga and Pavan, had made a deal with the jail guards. Darshan is also allowed to get cigarettes and massages in prison. Sources further stated that without the support of powerful politicians from the ruling party, it is impossible to get these kinds of facilities.

Sources further said that Darshan will be provided a bed and freedom to meet his colleagues, socialise in his barrack and indulge in plenty of amenities in the jail apart from non-vegetarian food and alcohol. Given the seriousness of the matter, Home Minister G. Parameshwara will pay a personal visit to the Bengaluru Central Jail later in the day, the state Home Department's official statement said.
Interestingly, the City Central Crime Branch (CCB) investigators conducted surprise raids at Bengaluru Central Jail last Saturday after receiving a tip-off about the luxurious treatment given to Darshan. They also had information about the presence of weapons in the jail. However, the CCB investigators returned empty-handed as they did not take any material from the jail.

According to sources, the news of the raid was leaked and the materials, including liquor, cigarettes and mobile phones, were taken out of the jail in four boxes. Home Minister G. Parameshwara had ordered a thorough examination of the video footage of the three days to find out why the boxes were taken away. So far, seven jail staff, including two jail guards, have been suspended for giving luxurious treatment to Darshan. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has ordered the shifting of Darshan and his gang members to different jails across the state and has sought a report from the Karnataka Police Commissioner.
