Why the former PSG star's early struggles at Real Madrid could spell trouble for Ligue 1

Former Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappé has had a slow start by his standards, scoring just one goal in three games in all competitions for Real Madrid. Are Some are making fun of the situation, but one expert hopes the player will turn the tables.

It's no secret that Ligue 1 and French football have had to contend with a lot of bad press in recent weeks. The television situation resolved and it was only from the second matchday onwards that people in the UK were able to watch matches legally.

French first division clubs apparently threatened with bankruptcy due to disappointing television revenues. The league needs good press and Mbappé could provide that, with FootballTransfers.com editor-in-chief Robin Bairner saying the Frenchman's success in Spain bodes well for Ligue 1.

Mbappé's success in La Liga means that the player was not only successful because the Parisians had a better squad than the other clubs. Success with Real Madrid means that the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner can be successful in any league.

“I hope so [go well] for him [at Real Madrid] in a way because I feel he deserves to prove what a good player he is outside of Ligue 1,” Bairner said in the last episode of PSG Talking“If he doesn't play well, it will, to some extent, diminish the reputation of Ligue 1 in the eyes of La Liga fans and, I suppose, in the eyes of fans across Europe and the world.”
