Women, too many women to mock them all: Michelle, Hillary, Elizabeth, Gretchen, Pink, Eva, Nancy, Mindy, Amy, Alexandria, Amanda, Jill, Oprah —

Damn Oprah!

And of course Kamala.

Amidst the dancing and cheering, the drumming of Sheila E., the singing of Stevie Wonder, and the blaring songs of Patti LaBelle, you may have heard a high-pitched whine in the distance, the sound of a dog frightened by a thunderstorm.

That was Donald Trump watching the Democratic National Convention, gasping in impotent rage at those snooty, disgusting women and all the people determined to elect Kamala Harris.

The party of misogyny (you know them as Republicans) simply cannot stomach the possibility that a woman, a girl, a human being with a vagina could become the most powerful person on the planet.

Many of their programs are incoherent: making the rich richer, currying favor with dictators, and destroying the planet.

But they are really keen to take women back to 1953.

This was undoubtedly the Golden Age of gender relations.

Ross Douthat, a JD Vance fan and New York Times columnist, calls the 2024 election “a referendum on masculinity in America.”

He is angry about the veneration of men who “unreservedly support women’s rights,” particularly Tim Walz and Doug Emhoff.

But wait a minute!, screams Douthat – Emhoff had an affair just 14 years ago! So what if his ex has not only forgiven him, but is also working like crazy to get Kamala Harris in office?

And what about the hot Bill Clinton, who was also forgiven by his wife?

Party of misogyny

The conclusion these self-proclaimed feminists seem to draw is that they are no better, and perhaps worse, than idiots like Trump or Musk, or comical dandies like Vance, who believes that postmenopausal women are only socially useful if they help raise the children of young, fertile ladies.

Women don't buy that. Nor do they buy Project 2025's (in which Vance is heavily invested) view that women's bodies are for bearing children, and that therefore anything that empowers them to break free and escape their God-ordained purpose must be banned.

When it comes to the battle of fetus versus adult woman, the fetus wins every time.

The party of misogyny wants to restrict access to contraceptives and abolish no-fault divorce.

Vice-presidential candidate Vance has even suggested that it might be better for women to stay in violent marriages for the sake of their children.

What do a few broken bones and a concussion or two mean compared to maintaining the sanctity of home and hearth?

The Palm Beach Pumpkin has been a misogynist for longer than he has been a Republican, a convicted rapist who has no value in a woman unless, as he puts it, she is “a young and beautiful piece of ass.”

Remember during the 2016 campaign, when he denigrated fellow candidate Carly Fiorina's “horse face,” told debate moderator Megyn Kelly that “blood was pouring out of her everywhere,” and bragged about grabbing women by their genitals?

Now he's insulting Kamala Harris like a monkey throwing poop at the bars of its cage. She's “stupid,” she's “weak,” she's a communist, an anti-Semitic “lunatic,” unqualified—a “DEI employee”—and that's why unsuspecting foreign leaders treat her like a “toy.”

And he's tired of people talking about how attractive she is.

No guide material

When Time magazine put a drawing of her on its cover on August 12, he freaked out, accusing the magazine of making her look like Sophia Loren or Elizabeth Taylor or even “our great First Lady Melania.”

(Note: Harris is similar to Loren, Taylor, or Melania Trump only in that they are all, you know, part of the vagina crowd.)

But we must not allow reality to get in the way of madness.

Trump stutters: “I look much better than her. Much better. Much better.”

Conservatives only know toxic masculinity.

Trump, Vance and their male supporters claim: “When a man votes for a woman, he actually turns into a woman.”

MAGA pin-up boy Andrew Tate, who is on trial for rape and human trafficking, says: “If you want a woman for president, you are gay.”

Tate, a British-American kickboxer whose only facial expression suggests that he has stuck a particularly sensitive body part into a light socket, believes that women should not have the right to vote.

In 2023, Senator Josh Hawley of Missouri, known for running from rioters like a scalded polecat on January 6, published a book called Manhood in which he calls on men to be “kings, priests, fathers,” leaders of men – and women.

Women are simply not suited to leadership positions.

New book cleanup at the college

Amy Reid, a Yale University doctorate and distinguished professor of Francophone literature, has just resigned from the board of the Sarasota institution formerly known as New College of Florida.

She led NCF's prestigious gender studies program—until it was closed and the student-sponsored library was thrown in a dumpster.

Christopher Rufo via Facebook

NCF trustee and professional idiot Christopher Rufo, a man convinced that women in higher education cause “all kinds of cultural problems,” crowed, “We hired classicist Spencer Klavan to teach at New College of Florida. Goodbye, gender studies; hello, Greek literature.”

Rufo, who considers Greek literature to be hypermasculine, has failed to notice how much of it is concerned with the delicate construction of male and female roles.

In fact, gender studies help to shed light on the Iliad.

But we don't want to upset the baseball players.

But wait until Rufo hears about all the homosexuality: Orestes and Pylades? Achilles and Patroclus? Sappho and her various friends on Lesbos?

The party of misogyny is so shaky in its understanding of masculinity that anything that could even remotely be described as “feminine” – being proud of one’s family and showing love – must be eradicated.

You are afraid

Gus Walz, the neurodiverse 17-year-old son of Tim and Gwen Walz, cried as he watched his father accept the vice presidential nomination, at one point shouting, “That’s my dad!”

The fine Christians of MAGA immediately took to social media to demand that “get the boy a tampon,” called Gus a “whining bastard” and a “beta,” and disparagingly compared him to Barron Trump, who the right apparently sees as a hyper-masculine teenage stud.

They attacked Ella Emhoff, a 25-year-old artist, model and fashion designer. Her portrayal of femininity did not seem to resonate with MAGA.

Some accused her of being a man; one called her “the nightmare scenario for most people with a daughter.”

Another genius posted: “Kamala Harris' stepdaughter looks ready to assassinate a former president tonight.”

The Harris, Emhoff and Walz families embody an America that exceeds the imagination of white Trump supporters.

They are terribly afraid.

It was bad enough when a black man occupied the White House. Now they are faced with the possibility of someone who is black, Asian, and—good God Almighty!—a woman sitting behind the Resolute desk wielding the power that they believe should only be theirs.

All I can say is buckle up, guys. It's going to be a bumpy ride.
