Woman and 2 children electrocuted in Rajasthan

Kota: A 35-year-old woman and two children, including her eight-year-old son and 15-year-old nephew, died due to electrocution in Bundi district on Monday, a police official said, adding that another man from the family was injured in the incident.

They had come into contact with a high-voltage power line that ran over the roof of their house in Ramnagar village in the Bundi Sadar police station area of ​​Bundi district.

Lok Sabha Speaker and MP for Kota Om Birla expressed grief over the incident and conveyed his condolences to the family. Birla also spoke to the family over the phone and directed the officials to conduct a fair investigation into the case and pay adequate compensation to the family of the deceased.

The incident occurred in the morning when the woman, identified as Karmabai Kanjar (35), was sweeping the attic and came into contact with a high-tension wire running above the house, said DSP Bundi City Amar Singh.

The woman's son Kartik and her nephew Akshya (15) tried to rescue the woman but were also electrocuted on the spot, he said. Meanwhile, the woman's brother Pawan also climbed the roof to rescue her but he too was electrocuted and sustained injuries, the DSP said.

The family members accused officials of Jaipur Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (JVVNL) of negligence and demanded compensation and initiation of criminal proceedings against the officials, the DSP said.

The police have filed a case of unnatural death under the relevant section of the BNS Act, said circle inspector Bhagwan Sahay Meena. The power department officials have been called to the spot and instructed to lay the high tension line across the houses in the village, he added.
