Augusta man charged with aggressive driving on Interstate 95

AUGUSTA – An Augusta man was charged Sunday with pulling out a firearm during a driving rage incident that caused two vehicles to collide on southbound Interstate 95.

At 11:09 a.m. at mile marker 111, State Police officers responded to a report of an accident resulting from the incident.

Colby Lemelin-Smith, 22, of Augusta, was driving a 2018 Volkswagen Passat when he and the driver of another vehicle allegedly became involved in an incident of driving aggression, according to State Police spokeswoman Shannon Moss. Moss said the initial investigation revealed that Lemelin-Smith brandished a firearm during the altercation.

Lemelin-Smith was charged by summons with criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon and dangerous driving.

A passenger in the victim's vehicle suffered minor injuries, as well as cuts and abrasions, but was not taken to the hospital. Lemelin-Smith complained of lower back pain and was taken by a police officer to MaineGeneral Medical Center.
