Insights into the family life of Sherwood star Robert Lindsay – from famous wife to daughter following in her footsteps

We are incredibly excited to see Robert Lindsay in Sherwood after decades of entertaining us with series such as My Family and Citizen Smith.

Off screen, the star is a doting father to his daughter Sydney Laura Stevenson, who is determined to follow in her famous father's footsteps, while his two sons are proud to support their dad from the sidelines. The 74-year-old has been married twice and enjoys a high-profile relationship with Sydney's famous mother Diane Weston.

Here's everything you need to know about the star-studded love life of the star and his three children…

Daughter

Robert has a 36-year-old daughter, Sydney, with actress Diane Weston. Although he believed Sydney would pursue an academic career, she instead chose to enter the entertainment industry like her parents.

Speaking to The Times in 2014, Robert recalled: “I thought, 'Wow, I have an academically gifted daughter, she's going straight to university!' But then one day she came home and told me she didn't want to study, she wanted to be an actress. I was really shocked!“

Then he joked: “To add to her resentment, she then turned to me and said, “Dad, just because you failed doesn’t mean I can.”“

However, Robert is incredibly proud of his daughter and says: “She is incredibly ambitious and always happy to surpass herself. I always told her that she had to realise that this job was not for her, she had to work for it. You can never stand still. And she doesn't do that.”

“I'm amazed at her chutzpah. In addition to acting, she continues to write original screenplays and adapt books.”

Sydney has caught the acting bug and as a young girl she even accompanied her father in three episodes of his hit series My Family. Sydney's other roles include Misfits, Red Dwarf and Doctors.

Sons

In addition to Sydney, Robert is also father to sons Samuel (24) and James (21), whom he has with his wife Rosemarie Ford, a famous presenter and dancer.

Although Samuel and James did not follow their families into the acting spotlight, Samuel still has a job in the industry. According to his LinkedIn profile, he works as a video assistant for Treasure Island Entertainment.

James, meanwhile, stays out of the spotlight.

Famous wife

Robert is currently married to presenter and dancer Rosemarie Ford. The couple walked down the aisle in 2006 and received a blessing from the local church on New Year's Eve of the same year.

Rosemarie, who lives with her husband in Denham, Buckinghamshire, became famous as a dancer and presenter, among others The generation game And Come dance.

She has also tried her hand at acting and appeared as Bombalurina in the 1998 version of Cats.

Famous ex-partners

Rosemarie was not Robert's only famous partner, and in 1974 he married his Citizen Smith Co-star Cheryl Hall, who played his on-screen girlfriend. The couple unfortunately divorced in 1980.

The star was also in a long-term relationship with actress Diane Weston, with whom he had daughter Sydney. The star's credits include The upper hand And Parking ticket machine.

Although the couple's relationship broke down, there is no bad blood between them. and Robert revealed that Diane is the godmother of his youngest son Samuel.

“This is a great honor for all of us; a lesson that divorce can be done with dignity,” he told the Times. “It's only when lawyers are involved that things get complicated.”
