Reward for information on fatal dog accident in Langley increases

An online campaign to fund a reward and legal fees in the case of a Langley dog who died from brutal injuries reached nearly half of its $10,000 goal on Monday, August 26.

The campaign was started by Adrian Tay, one of the owners of Sky, a two-year-old poodle-Maltese mix who was attacked and killed by a larger dog in front of the owners and their three children on August 5 while visiting a park on Vancouver's Second Beach.

So far, more than 100 people have contributed to the GoFundMe page “Justice For Sky”: “#JUSTICEFORSKY – Funds for Reward & Legal Fees” at

On the fundraising page, Tay said the family's life will never be the same again.

“No one should ever have to experience such trauma, let alone children,” said Adrian Tay.

He described Tay as “always the life of every party.”

“She danced for you when she wanted to eat and was the greatest princess and [roll] about the anticipation of being stroked on her belly.”

Her brother Zuma “has spent the last few days sitting around staring at her Sky Towers (Sky's playpen) wondering when she's coming back. Sometimes when he hears someone mention Sky's name, he runs around the house looking for her because he thinks she's come back.”

The family is also pushing for the city and province to change their regulations “to better protect civilians from possible future dog attacks.”

Vancouver Animal Services is attempting to locate the owner of the attacking dog.

Tay posted several screenshots from a video showing a woman walking quickly away from the crime scene with a large tan dog. The woman has brown hair and is wearing a white t-shirt and salmon-colored pants.
