Tazewell County man identified after fatal accident

TAZEWELL COUNTY (25News Now) – A rural Tremont man has been identified as the victim of a fatal crash Saturday in rural Green Valley.

The Tazewell County Coroner's Office said 90-year-old Elmer Papenhause was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident at around 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Towerline Road and Toboggan Avenue.

Papenhaus's preliminary cause of death was numerous blunt force injuries.

He was the only occupant of the pickup truck he was driving. Four occupants of the other pickup truck involved were taken to a hospital in Peoria.

The first responders were on site at around 11:15 a.m.
