Blue Ivy Carter defends herself as she prepares to return to the spotlight with her famous mother Beyoncé

Beyoncé's daughter Blue Ivy is not even a teenager yet and already has an impressive resume that many adults would envy.

With her latest project, she will step back into the spotlight just before Christmas when she lends her voice to Kiara in Mufasa – The Lion Kingalong with her mother, who will reprise her role as Nala, Kiara's mother.

And the talented 12-year-old's involvement in the film was recently defended by director Barry Jenkins, who clarified that Blue was chosen because of her talent and not her famous family.

He told ET: “It had nothing to do with mom and dad. She was the right young woman for the job.”

Barry also praised Blue's acting: “She does some things in this film that are really emotional. She's an actress.”

Not only is Blue a good actress, but her fans were able to watch her confidence and skills grow before their eyes during Beyoncé's Renaissance World Tour last year.

The 12-year-old had asked her mother to come on stage with her and was only supposed to perform once, but her dancing soon became a regular part of the tour. Blues' proud grandmother Tina Knowles recently spoke about her endless talent and revealed how creative she is in other areas too, such as playing the piano.

She told E! News: “She's self-taught and sounds like a concert pianist. She paints, she draws, she writes poetry. She's just an artistic soul.”

She added: “I'm really, really proud of her. I can't wait for the world to really know.” Blue is the eldest child of Beyoncé and Jay-Z and the older sister of seven-year-old twins Rumi and Sir.

Although Blue's parents are incredibly famous, they are very private about their family life and rarely give interviews or talk about their children.

However, Beyoncé paid a rare tribute to her firstborn after her first stage appearance in Paris in 2023. On Instagram, she wrote: “My beautiful firstborn. I am so proud and grateful to be your mommy. You bring us so much joy, my sweet angel.”

Speaking to Gayle King on CBS Mornings, Jay-Z also praised his daughter and her ability to “regain her strength” while on tour.

He said: “[Blue Ivy’s] was born into a life she didn't choose,” he said. “Since birth, she was under scrutiny and in the public eye, and everyone had an opinion about a little girl and how she looked after her hair.

“For her to be on stage and take back her power and the song to be called 'My Power,' you couldn't write a better script.”
