Kootenai County officials investigate fair incident, work with Border Patrol – Dailyfly

(Kootenai County, Idaho): On August 25, 2024, at approximately 5:00 p.m., officers with the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) responded to a report of a man allegedly taking photographs of children at the North Idaho State Fair.

Officers identified the man as Fnu Rahul and learned that he was from New Delhi, India. The suspect was unable to provide a valid U.S. ID or documentation proving his legal residence in the U.S. Officers conducted an investigation but were unable to find sufficient cause to arrest Rahul.

Officers notified Border Patrol, who rushed to the scene and arrested Rahul. KCSO was informed that Rahul had entered the United States on a cruise ship in Florida and had been in hiding for the past two years. Rahul is currently being held at the Kootenai County Public Safety Building, per the orders of Sheriff Robert “Bob” Norris. It is our policy to contact Border Patrol when an officer has reason to believe an immigrant is in the country illegally.

The Kootenai County Sheriff's Office remains committed to public safety and maintains effective partnerships with federal agencies to address and resolve the issues facing illegal immigrants in the country.
