Interstate 25 northbound in Castle Pines closed after accident and car fire

According to Douglas County authorities, northbound Interstate 25 is closed in Castle Pines after a car crash caused a car fire.

All northbound traffic is being diverted to Castle Pines Parkway due to an accident near Ridgegate Parkway. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office announced this in a post on X.

South Metro Fire Rescue crews responded to a crash involving a car that was fully engulfed in flames around 4:50 p.m., the agency said on X. Fire crews determined that an electric vehicle was involved in the crash and are currently checking people for injuries.

According to a travel advisory from the Colorado Department of Transportation, drivers should expect long delays and look for alternate routes between Castle Rock and Denver.
