Teenager hit and killed by New York subway after fight with another teenager

An 18-year-old man was struck and killed by a subway train in Queens on Monday morning after fleeing a fight with another teenager in a station.

The two were fighting on the platform at Elmhurst Ave Station in Elmhurst around 11 a.m. before the tragedy occurred, police said.

The 18-year-old – whose identity was not disclosed – ran onto the tracks and into a tunnel to escape the 19-year-old man. According to police, he slipped and fell on the tracks.

He was then hit by a Jamaica-bound F train. When officers arrived at the scene, they found the teenager unconscious and unresponsive on the tracks between the Elmhurst Ave. and Jackson Heights-Roosevelt Ave. stations.

His death was confirmed at the train station.

The 19-year-old was taken to Elmhurst Hospital with minor injuries.

As of Monday evening, no charges had been filed as police continued their investigation.

The rail strike “severely disrupted” service on the F, M, E and R lines for most of the day while emergency teams and investigators were on duty, the MTA said.

According to the transport company, the disruptions and delays continued into the evening rush hour.
