Josh Berry's wife shares heartwarming message after horrific NASCAR accident

One of the worst incidents to date occurred at the NASCAR Coke Zero Sugar 400 race at Daytona International Speedway. Josh Berry, driving for Stewart-Haas Racing, had a serious accident during a restart of the race on lap 158.

Berry led the field along with Austin Cindric and attempted a defensive maneuver on lap 160 that resulted in a high-speed collision that sent his car careening violently across the track.

Immediately afterward, NASCAR's well-coordinated safety team was quickly on the scene and helped Berry free himself from the overturned wreckage. From here, he was taken to a paramedic who confirmed that he was OK.

Following the incident, social media was quick to send their love to the driver. Among those voices was Josh Berry's wife, Ginny Lauren, who took to Instagram to express her pride in her husband's performance and her gratitude for the response of the team and marshals who helped the driver.

She posted:

“Last night was wild. I couldn't be more proud of @joshberry88 and the entire team of 4. First stage win and I was in the lead until the white flag before the big thing happened.

“Thanks to everyone who reached out and checked on us @potterphoto.”

In her other Instagram stories, Lauren admitted to having seen the accident several times:

“I've watched this many times since last night. I'm grateful for all the safety measures and that Josh is OK after this.”

Despite the shocking images of the accident, Josh Berry reassured his fans and followers in a post-race interview with NBC Sports via Motorsport.com.

“It probably wasn't as bad as it looked,” he told NBC Sports. “Man, I'm disappointed because we had a hell of a night. Just such a great performance from [crew chief] Rodney [Childers] and this whole team No. 4.

“The car was so strong. We were in position. I'm just really proud of the job I did tonight and really proud of the whole team. We were in the race. This could have been our day, but it didn't work out.”

This season, Berry has been in the thick of it, securing four top-10s and two top-5s in 25 races. With an average starting position of 19.32 and an average finish of 21.36, Berry has shown considerable reliability, especially as he prepares to join Wood Brothers Racing for the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series following SHR's planned discontinuance at year's end.
