Red-shouldered hawk released after rehabilitation at Southwest Florida wildlife refuge – WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports

NAPLES, Fla. (WSVN) – A red-shouldered hawk that was adopted into the Conservancy of Southwest Florida last December has finally been released back into the wild after eight months of intensive care and rehabilitation.

The flightless falcon was found lying on the ground and taken to the nature reserve for treatment.

A thorough examination revealed a shocking discovery: the bird had deliberately had all of its flight feathers clipped so that it could no longer fly.

After months of dedicated care by the Nature Conservation Agency team, the hawk's feathers grew back and it regained its strength and ability to fly.

This week the lucky bird was released back into its natural habitat.
